Tarot symbols show images of different situations in a human life.

There are 21 Major Arcana (archetypes) and 16 families of 4 cards called Minor Arcana (qualities). The families are further divivded in pentacles - worldly affairs, wands - natural growth, cups - feelings and swords - mental abilities. A family consists of a king - father, queen - mother, knight - adolescent and page - child.

These symbols of truth saying are already in use for thousands of years. The early Templars took the symbols from the Middle East to Western Europe and research shows that they actually come from far more ancient philosophical writings. There are connections with the I Tjing, corresponding images in Egypt temples, the Bible calls it Terafim and there are similarities with the Indian life-death cycles.

During the 13th century the Roman Catholic church banned all cards. And during the Middle Ages you had to watch out not to be called a witch and be burned at the stake. Luckily we have become wiser and nowadays you can even have your cards read by phone in tv shows.

The cards give insight in your heart, spirit and soul and what that means for your daily life.
